The agenda for the next GlassTalk event being held at Walton Hall, Warwickshire on May 27th has been revealed.
The very popular ‘On The Couch’ sessions will feature:
THE END OF INSTALLER & SALES STAFF SELF EMPLOYMENT?
We pit the Inland Revenue against a man that says he has the answer. And it’s available for everyone at GlassTalk.
WER’s: ALL or NOTHING
The creators meet the critics to thrash out Window Energy Ratings and ask ‘IS there a lot of fuss about nothing?
THE SYSTEMS COMPANIES FIGHT BACK
After the mauling the systems received On the Couch at the last GlassTalk, the systems companies get their chance to tell us why they will ensure the window industry has a fine future.
BOARD TO TEARS
The Epwin Group is one of the UK’s glazing industry’s finest companies. But the men that run it have fundamental differences about WERs.…
In any line of business making contacts with others within your industry can always play a useful part in helping you generate ideas, debates and leads. The glass industry is no different and due to time and geographical constraints it can be difficult to interact with them on a regular basis. Well if you run or are part of a conservatory or double glazing company then you really ought to sign up to the new GlassTalk website, or as we like to call it the ‘Facebook’ of the glass industry.
The new Glasstalk website is basically a social media networking tool for the double glazing industry allowing you to air your views online with other installers and suppliers. Once logged into the site users can create their own profile, add a picture of themselves and both post comments on their wall or comment on other users’ thoughts.…
At West Yorkshire Windows, we have recently become members of the GGF (The Glass & Glazing Federation). If you can remember, at the very first GlassTalk event, last March, one of the ‘On The Couch’ discussions was supposed to be Ian Chisholm trying to convince us to become members by selling the benefits. We actually ran out of time so it never happened.
Ian then came up to see Matthew and I and went through all the reasons for joining and we agreed to be members.
Before Ian came up to see me, I thought that the only good the GGF did was to create a few documents that we use, like the fact sheet on condensation and guide lines to what size footings we should use when building conservatories. I was very wrong.
On the 11th of February I went down to the…
The second coming of GlassTalk, the networking event launched in March this year following the cancellation of Glassex, has been hailed as another great success as 150 glass and glazing industry professionals – all senior managers, company directors and owners – gathered with the express aim of doing business, righting some wrongs and sharing successes and perhaps jointly shouldering the burdens of some failures.
Learning from the inaugural event, proceedings were slicker and better managed, with lessons learned as a result of dozens of delegate comments and positive feedback. Nonetheless, whilst the organisers had polished the programme great care was taken to preserve the simplicity and integrity of GlassTalk, recognised as key qualities by participants.
With more ‘speed-networking’ sessions, interspersed with GlassTalk’s characteristic ‘On the Couch’ interviews with key industry speakers, delegates each managed to meet at least half of those attending in the managed networking, with further opportunities for…
One of the items on the GlassTalk programme last March was for the GGF’s Ian Chisholm to convince Conservatory Outlet dealer West Yorkshire Windows and the main Conservatory Outlet to join up if they found the arguments to be compelling enough. Unfortunately the opportunity for what would have been a highly public debate – and commitment or rejection depending on how the discussions went – was lost when time ran out.
Nonetheless Andrew Glover, Managing Director of West Yorkshire Windows and Matthew Glover, Managing Director of Conservatory Outlet took the challenge, looked closely at what membership of the GGF could offer – and promptly committed themselves to join!
The brothers, co-organisers of GlassTalk (http://www.glasstalk.co.uk), the highly successful event launched to provide a networking event in March when Glassex was postponed, have very successful businesses and a reputation for being at the cutting edge of window and conservatory retail sales,…
